When I look back on my first jobs and university experiences, I never really connected the dots between my first paper route delivering the North Shore News and frying fish at Troll’s in Horseshoe Bay to working with ES3 to assist our clients with their estate planning and wealth transfer. But when I look back now, maybe there is a stronger connection than I thought.
I spent many summers travelling between semesters while getting my Bachelors of Commerce at Queen’s University, and later my Bachelor of Law in Taxation at the University of Western Ontario, and I landed in some pretty interesting places and jobs along the way. From slinging drinks in bars in England to consulting for Turkey’s largest mattress company to working in Toronto in my first ‘real’ job as a lawyer, I have continued to quench my thirst for knowledge of both the practical and somewhat impractical.
Along the way, I realized that I love to learn and from this realization pursued studies to become a Chartered Financial Analyst and then a Certified Financial Planner. Crossing paths with Darrell came at just the right time; working on his team, I can combine my legal, financial and practical knowledge to test, validate and implement solid insurance solutions aligned with our clients’ wealth transition strategies.
